Historic Centre of Betanzos

The historic city of Betanzos, fitted in between the Mendo and Mandeo rivers and at the end of the river of the same name, has a vast heritage both natural (Reserva de la Biosfera As Mariñas Colruñesas-Terras do Mandeo, Zona de Especial Conservación Betanzos-Mandeo) and cultural (the historic centre ensemble, the walls, the Parque de O Pasatempo and other buildings are declared Places of Cultural Interest).
They are also conserved, inside the urban centre, some interesting elements of industrial heritage, such as the old industrial slaughterhouse, curious building made in 1901 that was active until the 70s and nowadays, once rehabilitated, has become a civic centre, the neighbouring metallic bridge of the railway line of Betanzos-Ferrol, over the Mandeo, and some remains of old light factory (on the left shore of the Mendo river at A Ponte Nova) or a hops drying room (abandoned nowadays).

Access

The Matadero is on the convergence of the Rúa Marina and Grupo Brigantium, very close to the convergence of the Mendo y Mandeo rivers. Nearby the railway bridge and the remains of the light factory can be found
