Ferrolterra e Eume » San Sadurniño
The municipalities belonging to Ferrolterra (Neda, Narón, San Sadurniño, Moeche, As Somozas, As Pontes and A Capela) share this Special Area of Conservation known as Xuvia-Castro, of approximately two thousand hectares, in which are on one side, the section of the river Grande de Xuvia and its tributary the Castro, which flow into the Ría de Ferrol, and on the other side, the Sierra de Forgoselo with breathtaking views of As Pontes and the Rías de Ferrol and Ares from the Pico de Racamonde (537 m). This fluvial system was incorporated into the Natura 2000 Network in 2001 due to the good state of conservation of the flora, especially the forests of carballos and chestnut trees, and the fauna in its natural lakes.
