Barbanza-Arousa
The Ría de Arousa is the largest of the rías of Galicia, with the Barbanza peninsula in the north and Salnés in the south, bordering it. The municipalities of its northern part conform this destination for the province of A Coruña: Boiro, Dodro, A Pobra, Rianxo and Ribeira.
In Ribeira the dunes of Corrubedo, together with the lagoons of Carregal and Vixán, form a natural park of a high ecological value whose importance crosses borders, leaving no one indifferent. Something similar happens with one of the indisputable symbols of the ría: the Island of Sálvora, whose beauty made it deserving of presence in a popular Galician song. In A Pobra do Caramiñal we can highlight the natural pools of the Pedras river or the Mirador da Curota, with its breathtaking views. In the case of Boiro the same thing happens with the Waterfall of Cadarnoxo, especially showy in the humid stations. The estuary of the Ulla River in Rianxo is beautiful, with its particular environment and its variety of fauna and flora. And Dodro, as an ideal place to observe the lower course of the Ulla, allows you to enjoy the landscape through hiking trails or relax with days of rural tourism in ancient towns.
The natural condition of many of its beaches is one of the reasons that position the Ría de Arousa as a reference of beauty, which is complemented by the splendor of its ports.
Patrimony: The Museum of the famous writer Valle Inclán in Pobra do Caramiñal outstands as outstanding is the Pazo da Ermida in Dodro, where the writer Rosalía de Castro lived. In Dodro too, the figure of the hórreos is particularly relevant. Other elements such as megaliths and petroglyphs are also distinctive. And speaking of megalithic heritage, in Ribeira, a visit to the Dolmen of Axeitos, dated in century IV before Christ, is worth too.
Religious architecture: In the town of Dodro, there are multiple “cruceiros”, cross of Abelán or Bustelo, parish churches and other religious architecture. Regarding Rianxo, we have to speak about the Chapel of the Virgin of Guadalupe, patroness of the place, in the town's urban nucleus and who is honored in September and who is a protagonist in the lyrics of the songs of the most popular Galician folklore together along to the marine condition of Rianxo.

Dunes of Corrubedo and lagoons of Carregal and Vixián: In the municipality of Ribeira, this natural park of more than 1.000 ha has extensive dune area, paradisiacal beaches, freshwater and saltwater lagoons, marshes and a great variety of fauna and flora. This space is also characterized by the abundance of megalithic remains. It is a destination not to be missed when visiting this region.
Sálvora Island: At the end of the Arousa estuary there is this main island and several smaller islands that form the Sálvora archipelago, which together with the Cíes, Ons and Cortegada forms the Atlantic Islands National Park. The Public Use Team of the Park offers guided itineraries, although there is no public transport service at the moment to reach the island.
Mirador de A Curota: This viewpoint is the most visible point of the Arousa ría, from which you can also see the rías of Arousa, Pontevedra, Vigo, Muros and Noia. An ideal route to contemplate the breadth of the ocean from this unique place.
Valle Inclán Museum: This museum is located in the Bermudez Tower, built in the 16th century. XVI, linked to the writer's family, and it helps us to immerse in the life and work of the author of the esperpento.

Empanada de Palmeira. In this district of Ribeira, the festival of the empanada is celebrated every year, and in this case it is made with corn flour, a usual product in this region. Empanadas are usually stuffed with sea products, the most common being cockles, zamburiñas (small scallop shells) and xoubas (small sardines).
Mussel of Cabo de Cruz. Cabo de Cruz is a small port of Boiro Municipality, where the Mussel Festival is celebrated. In this small seaside town, the seafood sector is an important economic engine for its people. The mussel festival takes place every year in the month of August.
Xouba de Rianxo. The festival of the xouba is the most popular gastronomic event of this town. It is celebrated in July, the period of the year in which this product is tastier. In this day you can also enjoy activities linked to the traditional fishing art of the xouba called 'xeito' (manner).
